Are SKB vSeries cases waterproof?

No. The vSeries is a vacuum-formed polyethylene shipping and utility line built to the ATA-300 airline transport standard, with TSA locking latches and oversized bumpers — but it is not sealed or IP-rated. If you need a waterproof, dust-tight, MIL-STD-810 case, look at the SKB iSeries (injection-molded) or rSeries (roto-molded) instead. The vSeries is the right choice when ATA-rated wheeled transport, not submersion, is the job.

What does ATA-300 Category 1 mean?

ATA Specification 300, Category 1 is the Air Transport Association's highest standard for a reusable shipping container. A Category 1 case is engineered to survive a minimum of 100 common-carrier trips, which is why the vSeries is trusted for touring, broadcast, and repeat freight.

What are TSA locking latches?

Every vSeries case ships with Travel Sentry® Approved locking latches. TSA agents can open, inspect, and re-lock the case with their master tools without cutting your lock or damaging the case — so you can lock your gear and still clear airport security cleanly.

What do the numbers in a vSeries model name mean?

The vSeries model number encodes the interior footprint in inches. For the 5211W, the first pair (52) is interior length and the second pair (11) is interior width; the trailing "W" denotes the built-in wheel configuration. So the model name is a quick read on what will fit inside.

Do vSeries cases come with wheels?

Yes. Every vSeries case has sturdy built-in wheels for moving heavy, long, or bulky payloads through venues, docks, and terminals. The latches, handles, and wheels are all field-replaceable, so a case stays in service for years instead of being retired over a single broken part.
